    What is YFC?

The YFC organisation was started to give young people in the countryside a social life with other young people from their area.  There are now 37 clubs in Devon.

Today they function in exactly the same way, but now there is much more than just a social life.  With the YFC you can have the opportunity to meet new people. Learn new skills, help the community, travel and compete in competitions from club vs club all the way up to national level.

The members run the clubs which gives another opportunity to learn and gain experience, and it also means the clubs to things which are fun and important to the members.

The YFC is a great opportunity to socialise and make new friends, and with hundreds of YFC events every year and a network of friends to share ideas and transport..

Sports are another way to join in and meet other members from different clubs there is a huge variety of sports to choose from.  The aim is to enjoy yourself and to meet new members.

Clubs often undertake a Countryside Action Project based on local ideas aimed at improving or helping the community.  It might even lead to a local or National award.  A sense of achievement and fun can be gained from joining in.

Charities also gain from the work undertaken by the YFC , and a wide range of fund raising activities are offered.

Every year members are given the opportunity to join in with pantos, drama or entertainments productions which involved all the members from the club.  From performing to building the sets there is something for everyone to join in.  Carnival floats are another fun event.

The YFC can also lead to an International Experience.  Trips can vary from club and county exchanges to cultural and home stay tours.  You can go anywhere with the YFC.

Opportunities to learn new skills are part of your club programme. From public speaking, to car maintenance, debating to computer skills.  YFC certificates of achievement are awarded which will enhance CV’s when job seeking.

Club weekends are offered from under 18’s weekends to lead officer weekends which show how to run the clubs more effectively.
