Shebbear Young Farmers has a very proud and long history, opening on 11th October 1938 and affiliating to the Devon Federation in the same year. The club has produced four County Chairmen for the Devon Federation of Young Farmers.

Members of the club have represented and won competitions at both a regional & national level. It can boast being one of the few Young Farmer Clubs to have over 100 members join in a single year.

The club decided to put things on hold in 2006 due to low numbers, however due to a vast increase in popularity the club was reopened in September 2008.

Our chairperson is currently Lisa Pinno, she comes form Thornbury and was secretary when the club first reopened in 2008. She is a keen member and has been busy organising events to suit everyone.

Currently our secretary of this year is Jackie Curtis, she is a local girl and has been part of young farmers since it reopened in 2008, and has held positions of treasurer and chairperson previously.

Each year we raise money for set charities, this year we have chosen Devon Air Ambulance again as we all agreed it was a good charity. We also chose Macmillan Cancer Nurses as our second charity. We also intend to have a disco to raise money for Help for Heroes as 10 years ago the armed forces helped farmers when we faced Foot and Mouth.
